Discover our Sustainable Wines!

Between family weddings and vacations the last two months flew by... whew! Before harvest kicks-off it is a perfect time to introduce you to our family of wines, but to know our wines it is important to understand sustainability.

For nearly three decades we have proudly practiced the art of sustainable winegrowing. Long before the popularity of today's "green" movement, we built our business based on respect for the land, responsible energy use and a deep desire to make the best and most environmentally-friendly wine possible.

I'm sure you are wondering, what is sustainable winegrowing? Sustainable winegrowing encompasses three main goals - environmental health, economic profitability, and social equity. Over the long term, this approach to winegrowing not only enhances the quality of life for us as winegrape growers and the resources our winegrapes depend on, but also environmental quality and the society as a whole. The main goal is to leave a smaller environmental footprint.

Our dedication and commitment to sustainable practices has allowed us to be certified by The Lodi Rules for Sustainable Winegrowing. The Lodi Rules are California's first sustainable winegrowing standards that are designed to lead to measurable improvements in environmental health of the surrounding ecosystem, society, and wine quality.

All of our winegrapes are farmed following the sustainable standards... and they are wonderful! Our current everyday drinking wines are Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. And our Icon wine, Midnight Reserve, will not disappoint you. A Bordeaux blend crafted with 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Malbec, 18% Petit Verdot, and 9% Merlot illustrates what a Sustainable Lodi Appellated wine is all about!

To find out more about sustainability and our wines please visit our website, www.langetwins.com.

Until next time - enjoy!

Langes of Lodi

Welcome!

Welcome to LangeTwins Family Winery & Vineyards! LangeTwins began as a winegrowing partnership between twin brothers Brad (my dad) and Randy Lange in 1980 in the Lodi region of California, our hometown and the area where three generations of Langes worked the land before them. After 26 years of growing winegrapes, the face of LangeTwins has now transformed in two ways - we opened a winery in 2006, and the whole family is now a part of the business!

My dad is the General Manager of viticulture operation, working directly with my brother, Philip, and cousin, Aaron, on the technique of growing winegrapes. As General Manager of the winery, Randy oversees our winery operation. My cousin, Marissa, focuses on finance, private label, bulk wine, and custom winemaking. Cousin Joe brings LangeTwins wine direct to customer's homes as our webmaster, consumer direct and wine club manager. I manage the marketing and development of our LangeTwins brand, and work directly with our national sales manager in building and executing sales strategies. Last, but certainly not least, are the moms! My mom, Susan, keeps the viticulture office running leading human relations and business management, and my aunt, Char, focuses on public relation initiatives and events.

Before we dove head first into expanding from growers to vintners, my cousins, brother and I made a 100% commitment to come back and grow the family business with our parents - we are better off together then on our own! Having grown up together on our home ranch, we knew each others' separate personalities and how they would mesh together in a sometimes very hectic, high pressure work environment. On a daily basis we remind ourselves that we're all striving for the same goal: to succeed in bringing quality wine to wine drinkers and have fun along the way!

It's now a year and a half after we opened and we are still enjoying our wines and winery - in fact we were just voted the KCRA A-List 2008 Winners! This blog will give us, as a family, the opportunity to share this type of news, information, and updates on what's going on at the winery, in the vineyards, and any wine industry news.

But first and foremost, to get a better idea of who we are, we present a photo of the family picture taken on our 1939 International Truck which hauled the first Lange winegrapes to a winery by my great-grandfather!

Cheers!
