Now that Presidents' Day Weekend is over and George, Abe, and Caleb B. Smith (Interior Secretary for Mr. Lincoln - sorry if you missed him. You shoulda been in Murphys) have returned to the hall of past politicians for another year, Calaveras now turns to its second annual celebration of the wines and cuisine (think Bay Area quality...really!) of the county: the Calaveras Winegrape & Gourmet Celebration.
This event will be held on Saturday, March 7, from 1:00 until 5:00 at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds (famous home of the Celebrated Jumping Frog Jubilee) outside Angels Camp, California. This event will feature custom food preparations from the growing number of A-list restaurants in Calaveras, with each creation paired with one or more of the award-winning wines from the county.
Additionally, there will be four educational seminars throughout the day, as well as a "Cellar Finale" at the end of the day. The seminars will feature:

- 2:00 - The right glass for the right wine, featuring Aimee Brown from Camps Restaurant at the Greenhorn Creek Resort
- 2:45 - Backyard Vineyard Estates (turning your backyard into your very own vineyard), featuring Steve Collum of Vineyard Concepts
- 3:30 - Sensory Evaluation Seminar, featuring Tom Bender, noted wine educator from Columbia College
- 4:00 - the Cellar Finale, featuring barrel tastings, library selections, new releases, and desserts.
