Presidents' Weekend (February 19 and 20) is annually one of the three grandest weekends of the Calaveras wine calendar. From 11:00 until 5:00 (at the earliest) on both Saturday and Sunday, Calaveras wineries overwhelm visitors with food, entertainment, special wines and special pricing. All this, and the price of admission is only $10 for a commemorative wine glass that can be used for tastings at all Calaveras Winegrape Alliance member wineries.

Here's just a sample of some of the weekend offerings:
- Chatom Winery, just off Highway 4 on the way to Murphys, will again offer their "All American" theme, with hot dogs, peanut butter & jelly, chips, popcorn, and apple crisp. They will also feature popular local musician Richard Bolmen.
- Hatcher Winery will be offering their now-traditional barbecued pulled pork sandwiches along with Sewell's signature potato salad.
- Milliare Winery will offer their perennial favorites, meatballs and tapenades and case specials starting as low as $99.
- Val du Vino in Murphys will offer a Cajun menu: shrimp and corn cakes, smoked turkey gumbo, and traditional bread pudding - each paired with a specific Val du Vino wine. They will also offer a "buy three, get one free" bottle special.
- Frog's Tooth Vineyards will be featuring a popular local band, Plan B, along with mini corn dogs, Boston baked beans, and chocolates
- Tanner will be preparing fresh Pasta Italiano, mountain oysters, and a barbecue surprise.
- At my winery, Solomon, we will be hosting an after-hours dinner special of 1/2 chicken or barbecued ribs - both prepared fresh on the grill by Angelo of Deli Nini. Paired with one side and a glass of our wine, the total cost is only $18.00. Plus, live music will be provided by lunafish, playing classics from the 60's, 70's, and 80's.
