I would like to introduce David Girard Vineyards of El Dorado. Here at David Girard we focus on Rhone style blends and Rhone varietals. After many stints in Pinot Noir country, including Russian River, Carneros, and Central Otago, New Zealand, I found myself back in the foothills. This is where I escaped hot days in Davis to dance amongst waves and negotiate rocks on the river canyons of the Sierra Nevada. I searched for my Pinot Noir while dabbling in Sangiovese and popular Bordeaux varietals. When I met David Girard he told me about his passion to create Rhone blends and produce very premium wines from his vineyard estate. He had traveled to the Rhone valley with our vineyard manager, Ron Mansfield, some years before to determine the suitablility of these grapes at his vineyard site. I was intriqued by his determination to dive into a niche of this sort. This is when I found my Pinot Noir. It's called Grenache or Garnacha in Spain. We produce many blends with this grape and a Grenache as a stand alone varietal. If you haven't been to the vineyard, I think you'll find that our outstanding vineyardscape and winery represent the passion that we all have to produce premium Rhone style wines.
