Just the thought 'Wine Experience' brings many things to our minds. From tasting rooms and cellar doors, a candlelit dinner for two, and chinese food and football? There are so many ways to enjoy wine and so many thoughts that are evoked when we think of our experiences. As a winemaker, my experiences can be quite intimate with wine as I taste through barrel to barrel or sample wines at different temperatures. I also enjoy wine in more casual settings with my family and friends. Most of our experiences with wine are enjoyable. However, occasionally these experiences can go from good to great with a few tips. You think Chinese food and football don't have anything to do with wine? Think again. Many of us will sit around our living room table with take-out watching one of America's favorite sports. Some of us would like a glass of wine. But what will be enjoyable with Chinese food?
This brings me to my favorite part about wine, it's diversity. Right here in El Dorado County winemakers grow over 50 grape varietals. There are sure to be a couple that will compliment chinese food right? Please join me as we adventure into flavor pairing at David Girard Vineyards on January 17th, 2pm. We will explore the creativity in flavor matching as we breakdown key components of flavors and sample them with various wines.
