Living large on the last day in Argentina

I can't believe it is our last day here in Mendoza. Today was very relaxing. Later start and only one winery. We visited another property that Sebastian is interested in bringing in to the U.S. This one is a very old winery building, 1904, that has been brought back to life in the last few years. Old cement epoxy lined tanks and something I have never seen before in brick tanks, also epoxy lined. There was a lot of discussion about the name that was very difficult to say and the fact that the vintages of the wine seemed old. We tasted a 2004 malbec, some various blends of different proportions of cab sauvignon, merlot and malbec. The most current being a 2006 vintage. It was fun to taste some wines with a little age on them, since we had not done that on this trip. One very unique wine we tasted was also a new one for me a 2003 reposado. It had some wonderful aromas of cedar and tart cherries. I don't know if I could sell it, but it was fun to taste. This winery is willing to work on the labeling and maybe getting Sebastian some more current vintages. It is at a price that works, because he does not have anything currently at that level.

After the tasting we went to lunch at the golf, tennis, polo club of the owner. Very nice. We were out on the deck overlooking the golf course. There was just a light breeze, and Sebastian said something in Spanish. He is embarrassed to tell us, but it translates to "What a (bad) life I have," he said in a mock complaint. It was a beautiful meal of salmon mouse cakes, grilled and dried tomatoes, fresh lettuce, and that was just the appetizer. Next came the fillet mignon wrapped in bacon, with grilled onions and the best potato balls I have ever had. Just when you think you have had the best steak, they one up themselves!  The dessert was ice cream, small cakes with chocolate and vanilla.

Full and happy we head towards the Termas Cacheuta which is a spa hotel in the Andes Mountains.  Very cool place with varying temperature mineral pools overlooking the Mendoza River.  Coated ourselves in mud to extract the toxins from our bodies. I have to say this is the most relaxed I  have been on this trip. And now we head out now for our last night in Mendoza.
