One last look

Today we are tourists not wine people. We drive to the southwestern-most tip of the African Continent at Cape Point, which is where the currents of the Indian Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean meet. It's not however the southern-most tip of Africa, that is at Cape Agulhas.  It was weird looking out below the old light house imaging the first sailors to make it around this point and eventually make their way to the Orient.   A lot of ships got lost here, a lot of shipwrecks.

We drive up the Indian Ocean side of cape peninsula and have lunch at Simon Town, which is South African navy's headquarters. The drive north reminded me of the California coast, kinda north of Carmel with low sand dunes and the real low vegetation.

We are shocked back into reality at the massive settlement at Khayelitsha, where more than a million people live in corrugated houses. Mario, our driver, tells us that even if the people advance their position and become more successful they tend to stay in this place because they want to be near their people, they do not want to live in a white sub-division.

We make our way back to Paal, where we are staying for one last dinner then we come home to nearly the other side of the world.
